2019 Mercedes-Benz S-Class vs 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
For the average consumer, the differences among the Mercedes-Benz sedan lineup might confuse you. Despite looking the same, one model might have an MSRP twice that of another. Today, we’re going to give you a peek at how the base S-Class sedan compares to the base E-Class sedan. Check out the 2019 Mercedes-Benz S-Class vs 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class!
The S-Class is considered to be the flagship sedan of the Mercedes-Benz lineup, with the base S 450 4MATIC® starting things off as the base trim level. It outdoes the E 300 (the base trim for the E-Class) in almost every category, but the E-Class is a more affordable option for most drivers. They each have a couple highlights that separate them from each other, so we’ll get more into that below.

Comparison Between the S 450 4MATIC® and E 300
Performance sits on the side of the S 450 4MATIC®. It has a lot more horsepower and torque than the E 300, which makes sense given the larger engine under the hood. It also comes with the standard 4MATIC® all-wheel drive feature, made available in the E 300 for an additional charge. When you step inside the S 450 4MATIC®, you’ll be surrounded by luxury thanks to standard features like a panorama sunroof, all-LED interior lighting, and multiple wood trim options and aluminum accents.
If you’re looking to spend less, the E 300 is an excellent choice. Despite less power under the hood, there is still 241 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque to work with. It also comes with the same 12.3-inch infotainment screen as the S 450 4MATIC®. The E-Class was also the first Mercedes-Benz model lineup to offer standard Car-to-X Communication, a feature that connects all Mercedes-Benz models ahead of you and behind you to send signals warning fellow drivers of upcoming obstacles such as traffic jams, accidents on the road, or inclement weather while providing you with a detour if necessary. Car-to-X Communication now comes standard in the S-Class models as well.
