What is the Mercedes-Benz ATTENTION ASSIST® Feature?
By now you probably recognize Mercedes-Benz as a brand that values safety. Despite being a luxury brand that offers high-quality, eloquent interiors with excellent performance and technology features, one thing you can always count on in a Mercedes-Benz vehicle is peace of mind behind the wheel. They’ve revolutionized the game with their ATTENTION ASSIST feature. So what exactly is this feature? We’ll explain that below.

What is ATTENTION ASSIST®?
ATTENTION ASSIST® is a feature designed to keep all occupants in the vehicle safe by detecting driver drowsiness. During longer journeys, fatigue naturally starts to set in and that’s when many accidents occur. ATTENTION ASSIST® will detect signs of drowsiness and warn the driver both audibly and visually that they need to either pull over or switch drivers.
How does this work? During the first few minutes when the driver starts driving, the intelligent sensors pick up the driver’s driving habits, such as steering wheel movements and speeds. Research by Mercedes-Benz has shown that when a driver gets drowsy, their steering wheel movements will change drastically. When the system collects additional data – such as length of time behind the wheel, an uneven road surface, crosswinds, etc. – that may also attribute to a potential crash, the feature will issue the prompt. Some vehicles can even display a meter where the driver can see the vehicle’s reading of their level of drowsiness along with directions that will point them to the nearest rest stop.
When lives are on the line, it’s no time to mess around. Mercedes-Benz is continuing to prove that despite all the other available features in their luxury vehicles, nothing matches the importance of safety.
