How Does the ECO Start/Stop Feature Work in Mercedes-Benz Cars?
You may have noticed the ECO Start/Stop feature that comes standard in some Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Do you know what it is or how it works? If not, it may be a cause of confusion for some. We’ll explain what it is and how it works so you know how to use it properly the next time you turn on your Mercedes-Benz. Disclaimer: using this feature may save you money on gas.
How to Use the Mercedes-Benz ECO Start/Stop Feature
In order to use the ECO Start/Stop feature, the driver must first fasten their seat belt and close the door. Once they do this, the feature will be activated. In some models, the ECO symbol will light up to show you that it’s on. When the ECO Start/Stop is turned on, it will shut off your engine when you’re at a complete stop. This helps save fuel when you’re idling at a stoplight or in the middle of traffic.
Once you need to start moving again, simply lift your foot off the brake and the engine will start up again quickly. It might seem as though this would cause a short, inconvenient delay, but the system works automatically and so quick that you probably won’t even notice that your car turned off. While this is great for saving gas, you can opt to turn this feature off whenever you want. Simply press the ECO button on the center dash and you’ll be back to operating as normal. However, it’s not a bad idea to always leave it on, since it won’t be hurting the vehicle and you’ll continue saving gas.
If improving fuel efficiency and saving money are important to you, consider using the ECO Start/Stop feature in your Mercedes-Benz as often as possible. Take advantage of what modern technology has to offer!
